MUDE started a project designed within the scope of Past and Present - Lisboa, Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2017. Throughout 2017, three exhibitions looked at the design of the Iberian Peninsula and South America. The first Novo Mundo exhibition “Visões através da Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño 2008-2016 seeked to reflect on the real capacity of design to be a transforming agent of society and mankind. The selected projects and services, by 115 designers from 22 countries, have encouraged the real sharing of information and knowledge, intergenerational exchange, social cohesion, inclusion and multiculturalism, contributing to human development and social sustainability."

How to project an exhibition about projects and processes of political affirmation of design in a palace full of colonialist symbolism?

This was the huge challenge of MUDE, it launched us into the exhibition project "Novo Mundo. Visões através da Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño. 2008-2016".
