PER 7 | The Garage

The workshop aimed to expose the participants to architectural tools for thinking and intervening in a specific space in the neighbourhood - the garage, which serves as a communal space. The idea was to design a space and transform it into a stage for meetings and activities imagined by the group. In reality, the garage space was already used as a gathering and leisure area for a more or less fixed group of residents. As another music workshop was scheduled alongside this new workshop, the spaciousness of the garage was utilized to delineate some boundaries within the vast emptiness that a garage represents. Thus, a decision was made to intervene in the existing bar area and adjacent walls by creating a counter and a rear wall with lighting. Additionally, decorative elements were constructed for the nearby walls using viroc, with the hope that these elements could also serve as acoustic elements.

A part of this installation was later reconstructed as a 1:1 scale model/prototype, which was presented at the Iminente Festival in 2022.
